Leaves are clustered 5 togather at the end of shoots, obovate, membranous, rotundate at the apex, entire but often margined with red purple cilium.

Pure white flowers open in May with the leaves.

This azalea is distributed in the cool temperate mountains.

It is planted for garden trees.
