Leaves are alternate, obovate to ovate, acuminate at the apex, rounded to cuneate at the base, inciso-duplicately serrulate with mucronately acute teeth, scending-pubescent above, slightly gloucous beneath.

Petioles are 7-10mm long, clothed with gray appressed hairs.

Flowers open in April to June before the leaves.

Drupes maturing black in June to July.

This cherry is limited local distribution, but is very common in the warm temperate forests in the Fuji volcanic range.

It is planted for an ornamental tree and much appreciated as the Bonsai.
