Gamazumi
Viburnum dilatatum


A deciduous shrub with greyish brown fissured bark.

Leaves are opposite, obovate, short mucronate-toothed, coarsely pilose.

Many white flowers open on short shoots in May to June. Drupes ripen to scarlet from August to November.

This tree is one of the most common tree in sunny thickets on hills and low mountains in the cool to warm temperate zone.

The wood is used for handles of hammers, sticks. The fruits are edible.

Distribution ; Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu, Korea, China
